We had a birthday party today! Although, it isn't his "BIG" day yet. Today was basically big for him. We celebrated his 1 year old birthday with the people he holds close to his heart. He got toys toys and more toys. We were all so excited that Miss Kaleigh was able to join us. She helped him blow out candles and open gifts, but in Kaleighs eyes, "it's kaleigh AND paytons birthday today" ;)
As we all gathered around the table to sing the big song, and eat alll the spongebob cake...Kaleigh begins to sing "happy birthday to you, happy birthday to youuuu....happy birthday dear payton AND kaleighhhh too............."
it was so sweet.
I teared up a few times, knowing that I'm never going to be able to have that year back, it doesn't matter the amount of pictures or the amount of videos I took, it was all left behind as a "memory" the sleepless nights, the crying for no reason, the first time he rolled over, first time he smiled, laughed, crawled, stood up, danced, that's what the first year was all about. Now he's growing into that perfect young man.
I know he's always going to be "mommys baby" and I can't always stand by him and protect him like i can right now, but I know that teaching him the right paths to go in life, will lead him to a bright future and hopefully a successful young man.
We were so happy that daddy got to spend the day with us also, althought knowing that he was going to be leaving that evening we made the most of it. As marc said "its sad how i come home and paytons gets attached to me, and i have to leave again" that was true...he was all about him this weekend. I hope he grows up and takes care of his family, just as well as his daddy does.
